Set on Random
Random Thoughts for the Evening:
Salt water tanks intimidate me.
It amuses me that painting can simultaneously lift and shatter my self confidence...
Sushi is one of those small things that can mean so much.
Do I honestly think I know anything worth writing a book about?
The initial heart flutter of a crush is almost worth the inevitable crush of the let down.
Being homeless is a juxtaposition of terror and liberation.
Televisions are evil hypnotizing robots.
For that matter, so are computers.
And girl scouts...
My job is more stress than a barrel full of monkeys. (If they were in a barrel, then I wouldn't have to chase them around...)
Todays amusing anecdote for those of you who get a chuckle out of the little rascals' random rampages (and lets face it, who doesn't)... The family was crossing over the path through one of the overhanging branches on their way back to the main exhibit to eat today when, as often happens, we had to stop vehicle traffic on the pathway in case one of the monkeys should fall (try explaining to the Brazilian government why one of their national treasures is now a pancake). The golf cart in question ended up parked a little too close to the fence that the monkeys were traveling on and it piqued their curiosity. Moe and Mara (the 10 month old twins) jumped from the fence onto the asphalt walkway and, with barely enough time for me to convince the unbelieving driver of the vehicle that yes, he really should vacate the cart, they were all over it exploring. They climbed on the frame, they sat in the seat, they shimmied up the steering wheel. A huge crowd had gathered in the meantime and they were getting the show of a life time. I fully expect there to be videos up on Youtube soon, and they will probably show glimpses of a very stressed intern trying not to freak out. I half heartedly tried to shew them back into the exhibit, but of course they paid me no attention. When they got under the cart and looked like they might climb up into the engine, I was at my breaking point. I was just about ready to lure them back into the exhibit with a banana when they seemingly lost interest and joined the rest of their family without a fuss. My adrenal system crashed just in time for them to spend the next two hours back on the fence and playing in the road, perhaps waiting for another unsuspecting vehicle to fall prey to monkey hijacking.
