Wow, I really babbled aimlessly on that last post... I think I may have been delirious for parts of today... I hope I didn't hallucinate the fact that I think I did well on my chem test... That would suck.
Well, I'm off to research the psychology of nicotine addiction. That's what I've decided to write my psych paper on. I figure maybe if I understand it more then I'll be able to help people quit more easily??! Sigh, I can't believe I caught a certain you-know-who smoking a you-know-what while he was sick hacking up his lungs anyways! Ugh!

Wait until you discover that after a mear 100 cigarettes someone is forever addicted to nicotine. Yeah addiction sucks. Oh yeah and forever means they can quit they can be stone cold for years even decades and then one cigarette and boom. Right back to needing a pack a day.
hey Kurt, you wouldn't happen to know where you found that tidbit of info so I can use it in my research paper would you? Sigh... addictions are nasty things. It just scares me because I know the damage it can cause and I don't like to see so many of my friends hurting themselves like that.
There is this guy names James Joyner at Alcohol and Drug rehab. I can get you his name number and E-mail address. It's his job to combat addiction, he can get you more info than you can read between now and whenever you report is due.
The material cam from a PBS tape BTW. The PBS publication had to do with the permanent chemical effects of the brain and addictive substances. I'll warn you James is probably one of the most dedicated persons I have ever met when it comes to wanting to inform people about addiction. One of his stances for combating Adolecence addiction goes something sort of like this:
He tells kids that there is flat out no hope for them. Because of their enviroment they will be addicts to something in their life. So his Highschool talks go something like this... "Not Just say no, Not DARE, you children will grow up to become addicts no matter what. The only people who can change that is your parents and you can not make that decision for them, because your parents find it acceptable to smoke in front of you or drink excessivly while you are around or even let other people do that you will be an addict. If you don't want to be an addict your only hope is to tell your parents and everyone around that it is not acceptable to do what they do and they need to change they way they are and not let those around them accept that other people are killing themselves around you. The only way you will not become an addict is if the culture around you changes."
Woah, interesting. Sounds like the kinda guy I'd like to have a conversation with. Btw, I've got Ray majorly working on quitting... Let's just hope it means as much to him as it does to me. =)
