Painarg!
Pain pain pain painity pain pain pain!
It's been an interesting weekend to say the least... So let's say more. Friday was spent keeper aiding in Small Mammal House, potentially for the last time, depending on how badly I have shot relations with the volunteer coordinator. *shrug* Anyhow, I will never get over the novelty of having a lemur lick banana off my fingers. Or of tickling a porcupine on their marshmallow nose. Or of having a tamarin smack me for not paying attention to them. Good times! However for the time being, I have pretty much turned my sights away from keeping as a career. It just isn't what I need for the moment. The more I talk to keepers lately, the more I realize that they are very bitter about changing the world. I don't want to be bitter. I need to make a difference. So, off to make a different path for myself.
Friday night, I went out with my friend Gill. We went to a bar and played ping pong and then went to another bar and played shuffle board. Good times, indeed! Gill is always a blast to hang out with. Sidenote, we both showed up in the same awesome w00t t-shirt. Hilarious to say the least. Also, have you ever tried to catch a ping pong ball while partially inebriated? Slippery little bastards! I stumbled home around 3 am and fell into bed. Despite setting 2 alarms, I would have overslept were it not for the cat meowing loudly for breakfast at 8:15.
I rolled out of bed, fed the cat, and went to the birthday party I was hosting at the zoo. They are always fun, though slightly harder when working through a hang over. The kids were adorable! Cutest group of 4 year olds I have ever met. And one of the little girls was exactly like I picture my daughter will be one day. =)
When I got home from the party, I fell asleep around 2pm, intending only to nap. I woke up at 6am the next day. Hooray for 16 hours of sleep! Lovely no? I had the weirdest dreams though... I always do these days. Anyhow, I was up at 6 and spent a few hours reading and trying to ignore the cramps that were starting. At 9 I went to work another birthday party. Which, have I mentioned, are always fun, though slightly harder when working through menstrual cramps. Got home from that, and chilled the rest of today and here I am.
And in closing.... Pain pain pain painity pain pain pain! Sometimes I curse x chromosomes... That time is now! Arggg!
