Rainbows and Lightning Bolts

After being pelted by huge, driving drops of rain the sun again began to shine at practice. The storm had moved slowly over and still darkened the horizon even as the sun started to dry the ground. Highlighted against the darkness shimmered a perfect double rainbow. I stared enamored as the colorful beauty was lit up by bolt after bolt of lightning from the retreating storm. There is something so intrinsically exotic about black skies and bold lightning framed by rainbows. Then a new front moved in and the wind picked up. The clouds swirled violently above us as the battle raged below. It was perfect fighting weather and the two sides broke against each other again and again like waves on the beach. With the battle done, the tension broke and the rain again drove from the sky in turn driving us from the field.

Speaking of rain, Ragnarok was amazing despite the torrent of rain and rivers of mud. Apparently it rained all day wednesday and most of thursday but stopped in time for belly dancing and mud wrestling at Mardi gra. It then rained light and warm for most of friday and a small band of us fought in the showers. Half our camp got fed up with the water (pussies!) and left about an hour before the rain stopped for the rest of the weekend leaving us with bright sunshine. Friday night was an old school Rausumean party just chilling around a campfire with drink in hand and trading songs and stories. Saturday followed with over 400 targets for me on the field and Ohio fighters kicking some serious arse.

Without a doubt, the best part of the weekend was sharing a tent with my darling pirate. We had a small tiff on Thursday night but nothing more then a product of a man enraged by seeing others eyes on me. It was so nice to fall asleep in his in arms and wake up with him as the first thing I saw, to have a space completely to ourselves and time devoid of obligation or deadline. It was marvelous. I am in major withdrawal ever since and even seeing him at practice and dinner last night did not satiate my appetite for his companionship. I can hardly wait until my room is finished so that we can have a sleepover. *smiles*

Speaking of which I am off to touch up paint and hang shelving.
