And They Made Houses Out of Meat!

Today was a good day indeed. I ought to have been finishing my honors paper or taking my drivers test, but neither of those worked out so I went out with some friends instead. Eric, Josh, and I went to the Natural History Museum. We took Josh's two year old daughter, Victoria. She is a very bright, articulate, and all around adorable little girl who I could not get enough of. It was so much fun running around looking at the random exhibits, taking pictures in interesting places, and watching Victoria's face light up throughout the day. I remembered so many of the exhibits from when I was little, it refreshed a lot of childhood memories. Afterwards, we went to the Mongolian BBQ. I had never been to one before, but really enjoyed the food. I wish there was one in the Medina area, I would make it a regular occurrence! Victoria even tried using chopsticks, did pretty well too. I am trying to train the next generation of chopstick ninjas!

Anyhow, I ought to get an hour of work done on my paper before I pass out. I really am a terrible procrastinator!

Progress...

Well I got the torso armor done! I will post pics when I get better ones. There are currently pics in which I personally look like crap posted on my myspace, but the armor looks gorgeous nonetheless. I am really proud of how it turned out! And judging by the compliments I got, I did well, especially for my first try! The only alterations it needs are some trimming in the armpits and maybe the neck. I have huge armor bites on my arms that are bright purple and swollen today. Oddly enough, the one on my shield arm is much larger then my sword arm. Perhaps because holding my shield up left a constant pressure on it whereas the sword swinging was intermittant? Now to get the rest of the armor done! I am addicted to leather working!

Today looked to be a pretty good day. Other then being chilly... I managed to stay awake and study for my women's psych class. I did relatively well compared to all the other groaning I heard around me. Not bad for only having studied an hour this morning and never cracking the book. Then I went to the registrar's office and convinced them to let me apply late for the may graduation. It cost me $1oo but it's going to happen. Hopefully that is... When they pulled my transcripts they said it looked like there were several requirements that I had not filled... But my counselor told me last fall that I had what I needed as far as credits were concerned. I will be irate if I have to take more classes. I hope it is just a mistake. *crosses fingers*

A Soft Sigh and a Giant Smile

Things are going well out here in my portion of existence. Spring break was quite eventful, though not quite so relaxing as I had hoped. Having the burden of my honors paper off of my shoulders for a week was perhaps the ultimate highlight. Not enough sleep, plenty of fighting, and lots of time with friends were the others.

Thursday, Dawn and I took a road trip down to Athens to visit Jon. It was one of the best all around days I have had in a while. Dawn and I cranked the radio and belted out songs during the drive both ways. Jon was as charming and delightful as always. Athens is a really cute college town. It makes me sad that I didn't try harder to go somewhere small and intimate like that, but something makes me think that it might have proved more distracting that anything else. I mean, I really have been very well behaved throughout college, mostly because I didn't try to socialize on campus. I went to more college parties in high school then I have in college! ((good times, btw)) Anyhow, we talked and wandered and perused and reminisced and joked and had a general all around good time. The weather was gorgeous despite random sprinklings and I heard my first spring peepers of the year.

Friday I was supposed to work on my armor but this was complicated due to lack of functioning leather punch. Corey was amazing enough to lend me one of his and I made a ton of progress tonight. All that is left is setting the eyelets and lacing it up. It looks amazing now that it is tooled and dyed! Hopefully I will have time to pop out some bracers, greaves, and my helm tomorrow as well. I am terribly excited to show it all off!

Work this weekend was... Well... Saturday left me very tempted to cause a scene or quit or at least act very grumpy and spiteful. But I was a good girl and let it go. I am going to update my resume tomorrow and send it out to as many places as I can think of. I simply don't think that I can manage to fight this frustration all summer.

But that is all ok because today was gorgeous! A good portion of the day was spent bringing different animals out into the sun and sitting with them while they play. It is those parts of the job that tempt me to stay regardless. I love the animals. I love interacting with them, taking care of them, just being around them... If only all my co-workers could be so easy to co-exist with. Thank goodness for beautiful days filled with sunshine and warm breezes.

In short, welcome back spring! Please stay as long as you'ld like! And bring with you more starry nights filled with sushi dinners and flirting caresses. I have a feeling that this will be a good summer.
