It's All Relative

Today has been quite a good day. I got the day off but as I was preparing for bed last night, anticipating sleeping past noon, I got a call from my Uncle Ed. He was in town and wanted to meet at the zoo and have lunch. Shoot! Well I wanted to see him anyhow so I met him at the free range exhibit at the zoo and I showed him the family of monkeys I take care of. (Even on my days off, they can't keep me away from the zoo!)) Then we went to lunch at an Indian restaurant down the street. I have never had Indian cuisine, but yummers! It was really nice to sit and talk with him and I am really excited about visiting him and everyone else when I go to Wisconsin for the wedding next month.

It seems I have had more visits from relatives since I moved here then I ever did at home. Last week my Aunt Sally was in town and took me out to dinner to celebrate my graduation. She used to live two blocks from where I live now apparently. What a small world! I really had a great time talking with her. She used to teach at University of Maryland and recently started working at Yale, both of which are on my list of choices for grad schools in conservation sciences. She gave me a lot of great advice about funding and applications and such.

So life is good! I just got done cooking and eating dinner. Lately Dawn has been cooking delicious food for the both of us every night but she didn't want what I wanted this evening so I got to cook instead. I really enjoy the little grown up things that I am getting used to doing; trips to the laundromat, planning everything, shopping (though letting me and Dawn lose in a store tends to be a recipe for overspending). Tonight I cooked a turkey burger garnished with mushrooms and spinach and I honestly think that it was the best burger I have ever had.

My job is awesomez. The GLTs are starting to get settled in and aren't as stressed as they have been though the kids still don't have the hang of climbing to certain areas. I will be writing weekly summaries of their adventures which can be found here. And on that note, I leave you with some pictures that were sent to me by some photographers.
